Handmade Galentine's Day Gift Guide

Galentine's Day! It is a day to celebrate your gal pals and spread love to those girlies you love most! Ever since learning about Galentine's Day through Parks and Rec (Knope 2020, amiright?!?!?), I have loved the idea of Galentine's Day but have not yet been able to put it into practice. This year, a friend of mine is hosting a Galentine's Day party, and I figured I would throw together a little handmade gift guide for all my crafty friends out there.

To keep you in the loop, my posts contain affiliate links! This means that if you buy something through one of those links, I will make a small commission at no additional cost to you. Thanks for your support!

Nothing says "I love you, gal pal!" like a handmade goodie! Not only did you spend a little money, but you spent your most valuable resource: time. A handmade gift is a great way to take time to thoughtfully make something for a dear friend, or friends. For Galentine's Day, it doesn't have to be anything over the top or super involved. Making something simple can be just as fun and show just as much love.

What you make doesn't have to be Pinterest worthy or look like Martha Stewart made the gift. Make something that you know you put effort into and that your friend will cherish because it represents your friendship.

Mini cards are a super cute way to make a Galentine's Day card for a friend and have it feel like they are getting a grown-up version of kiddie valentines!

Ideas for gift themes:

- inside jokes

- where you live

- where you grew up

- where you went to school

- common interests

- her favorite things

- favorite foods

- wine

- somewhere you've traveled together

- her latest milestone (career, love life, home, babies, etc.)

- what makes your friendship special

Handmade Gift Ideas:

A few of my favorite handmade gift ideas are things that are fun and relatively easy to make. You can tell when someone has enjoyed making the gift they give you when they are smiling and not telling you what is wrong with the gift right off the bat. When I give someone a gift that I am proud of and did not give me many frustrations, I get a thrill of excitement to see when they open the gift. If the gift was a pain in the bum to make, I am usually basically apologizing right out the gate about "well, that was supposed to be like this" and all that kind of nonsense.

Some handmade gift ideas include:

- cloth napkins

- a knit scarf or beanie

- scented soap

- sugar scrubs

- jewelry

- cards

- ceramics (mug, bowl, decor, etc.)

- dried flower arrangement (I literally still have the dried flower arrangements from my wedding, which was 5 years ago)

- easy tote bag

- baked goods

- bookmarks

- decor

You can check out my Handmade Galentine's Day Pinterest board for inspiration on what to make with some of the above ideas.

For the napkins pictured in this post, I used this sweet fabric from Hobby Lobby and I used a yard of it to make sixteen 9X9in (roughly) napkins. The earrings were made with the Premo! brand sculpey clay that I also got at Hobby Lobby. Little Fawn makes the stamps that I used for the mini cards, which are like cute "grown-up" valentine's!

What handmade item are you going to make this year for Galentine's Day? Are there any handmade gifts you have received for Galentine's Day that you loved?

xoxo,

TBS
